Canines and Canine Lovers take on Cancer at Riverstone Feb. 25

February 02, 2017

Calling all canines and their humans! Help us take a bite out of cancer during Bark for Life at Riverstone 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25.

Bring the whole family — including those who are furrier than others — to Bark for Life to celebrate cancer survivorship, both human and canine, and to honor the care-giving qualities that make dogs “man’s best friend.” After the Bark for Life non-competitive walk, there will be plenty of other activities for families and their four-legged friends to enjoy, including canine performances, face painting, contests and food trucks. Bark for Life benefits the American Cancer Society, and this year’s goal is to raise $10,000 to support cancer research.

Registration is a suggested $20 donation for canines, and owners who register online can save $5 by using the code BARK2017. If that isn’t enough reason to sign up, there is a doggie bag full of goodies waiting for the first 500 people who register, and all event participants will receive a Bark for Life dog bandana.

Don’t think that Bark for Life is leaving out those humans without dogs, though. The event is open to everyone, and event coordinators are working with local shelters to allow participants to adopt a dog for the day, or forever. Walkers may come solo but leave a dog owner, after meeting their new best furry friend.

Bark for Life is just one of the many charitable events Riverstone hosts throughout the year.
