2013 was a Great Year in Riverstone!

January 03, 2014

Enhanced mobility was a highlight for Riverstone in 2013, which also saw the community achieve record-breaking sales for a third consecutive year.

The year began with the opening of University Boulevard in February, a 1.8-mile extension that helps provide access from Highway 6 to U.S. 59 near the University of Houston Sugar Land campus. 2013 ended with the December opening of a bridge over the Flat Bank Creek diversion channel, connecting Riverstone to sister community Sienna Plantation near the Fort Bend Parkway and providing an alternative to Highway 6.

The road openings were bookends for a host of accomplishments, including the construction start of The Club at Riverstone, a 17-acre water park and recreation complex opening next year, and the purchase by Taylor Morrison of 575 acres to expand the popular Avalon at Riverstone neighborhood.

Riverstone also reached its 3,000th home sale, officially marketing the halfway point in the community’s development cycle. Builders sold nearly 800 homes in Riverstone during 2013, an increase of approximately 30 percent from 2012’s record-breaking sales pace. Builders started on more than 700 homes in Riverstone during 2013 and nearly 540 new families moved into the community.

“It was a year of accomplishments,” said Tom Wilcox, general manager of Riverstone. “ In addition to phenomenal sales and the opening of University Boulevard and the Flat Bank Creek bridge, we introduced several new neighborhoods, Sitterle Homes made its Houston debut in Riverstone and we hosted the only show home of the American Society of Interior Designers during 2013. Following such success, we are looking forward to what 2014 will bring.”
