Roadway to Link Riverstone, Sienna Plantation by Year's End

September 23, 2013

When it opens near the end of the year, a span over the Flat Bank Creek diversion channel will literally bridge two sister master-planned communities, Riverstone and Sienna Plantation.

It also is an important link in the regional mobility plan for Fort Bend County.

The bridge, under construction now, will connect LJ Parkway in Riverstone to Sienna Springs Road in Sienna Plantation, offering an alternative to Highway 6. The roadway also will provide another route to Fort Bend Parkway, which currently is being extended from Highway 6 to Sienna Parkway, just south of the Sienna Springs Road intersection. That project also should be complete around the end of the year.

“Building this back door into Riverstone and Sienna Plantation should relieve congestion on Highway 6,” said Tom Wilcox, general manager of Riverstone. “Accessibility in the area will be enhanced further when LJ Parkway eventually connects with Commonwealth Boulevard.”

LJ Parkway currently ends just north of University Boulevard, which was extended earlier this year to connect Highway 6 to U.S. 59. The parkway is named after Larry Johnson, founder of The Johnson Development Corp., one of Houston’s most notable residential developers. Sienna Plantation and Riverstone are both projects of the company. The two communities are among four Johnson Development has on Metrostudy’s list of the top-selling communities in the nation, with Riverstone ranked No. 8 and Sienna Plantation listed at No. 13.
