Registration Opens for Sept. 29 Heart and Sole 5K

August 31, 2012

Registration opens Sept. 1 for Riverstone’s annual Heart and Sole 5K, set for Saturday, Sept. 29.

Heart and Sole again benefits Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels, which received $2,000 from last year’s race.

The event, which includes a kids’ one-mile fun run, begins at 5 p.m., with racers following a certified course through Riverstone. Cost for adults is $25 and the kids’ run registration is $10. Register at http://www.active.com/running/missouri-city-tx/heart-and-sole-5k-run-2012.

Racers and their supporters can enjoy post-race activities, including moonwalks, a photo booth and more. Each racer will receive a commemorative T-shirt. Children’s strollers are allowed on the course, but pets are not.

“With services for more than 1,000 seniors daily, Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels is such a good cause,” said Natasha Hakala, Riverstone’s lifestyle director. “We hope to raise even more money for them this year.”

Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels serves those ages 60 or older, regardless of income, from nine locations in Fort Bend County and one site in Waller County. The program includes home-delivered meals, congregate meals, transportation, health screenings and referral services. For more information, visit www.fortbendseniors.org.
