Houston is well-served by a vast system of highways, with 739.3 miles of freeways and expressways in operation, per the Greater Houston Partnership. Major roadway improvements have greatly enhanced access to central Houston and plans for an additional 478 miles of highways promise even greater mobility in the future. Houston also is a crossroads for major highways - including Interstates 45 and 10 - offering easy regional travel to explore other parts of Texas.

In addition, the Houston Airport System - comprising George Bush International Airport, William P. Hobby Airport and Ellington Airport - ranks as the fourth largest multi-airport system in the nation and the sixth worldwide. Through this vast airport system, Houston connects non-stop with approximately 120 domestic and 70 international destinations in 32 countries. Bush and Hobby airports operated nearly 800,000 flights combined in 2008, while Ellington Airport serves as a base of operations for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and corporate charters.
