Institute for Regional Forecasting: Houston jobs, people to grow by 2.5% a year Read more: Institute for Regional Forecasting: Houston jobs, people to grow by 2.5% a year
Tuesday April 20 - 12:28 pm
Houston will grow by 3.7 million people and 1.5 million jobs in the next 25 years, according to the Institute for Regional Forecastings annual long-term forecast for the eight county Houston Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The IRF report also shows that the decentralization of Houston will continue with suburban counties capturing an increasingly larger share of new job and population growth. Most recently the suburban counties have been capturing about 44 percent of all employment growth and 51 percent of all population growth.
This trend will continue well into the future, Smith said, noting that by 2035 the suburban counties will be capturing 63 percent of all new jobs and 78 percent of all new population.
Open Homes Weekends in March
Monday March 15 - 02:30 pm
Riverstone Opens Homes for Weekend Tours Through March
With low interest rates, the home buyer tax credit and builder incentives piquing buyer interest, Riverstone has decided to open all of its more than 20 completed and under-construction homes during its Spring Open Homes Extravaganza, slated for weekends in March.
Available homes in Riverstone will be open to tempt homebuyers, with properties ranging in price from the $200,000s to the millions. Prospective buyers can tour the homes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays during March, as well as noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Visitors also can become more familiar with Riverstone, which is noted for luxurious homes in a landscape accented by 250 acres of lakes and waterways and plentiful green space.
There has never been a better time to buy, especially considering low mortgage interest rates and the extended federal home buyer tax credit, said Tom Wilcox, Riverstones general manager. And in addition to the tax credit savings, builders are also offering an array of buyer incentives.
Brio Tours Riverstone
Thursday November 12 - 12:37 pm

Brio is the famous pooch on Riverstone's billboards in Sugar Land-- one on US-59 and the other on Dulles Avenue. We had no idea when we purchased the photo of the endearing poodle from the Internet, that Brio was a local dog. Well, wouldn't you know, we connected with the owner and brought Brio out to Riverstone! What a ball we had touring the community (the dog park was an obvious "must see" attraction) and meeting the community team. We are looking forward to many more Brio sightings!
Photos show: Riverstone marketing director, Christen Johnson; Brio next to a smaller version of the billboard; Brio with her owner (and photographer) Ruth Johnston and Riverstone general manager Tom Wilcox.
